Leadership postpones Winter Informal

It was announced last week that Pali’s first winter informal will be postponed until a date to be determined. According to members of Leadership, the deferral of the event was due to last minute complications with receiving a permit in the main gym.

This year, Pali’s Leadership class announced that in replacement of the traditional winter formal, a more casual dance would take place instead. Sold at $25, the tickets granted each attendee entrance as well as access to all of the dance’s amenities, such as all-you-can-eat tacos and a photo booth. The “informal” was to be hosted in the main gym of the school and begin at 7 pm. According to the event’s Facebook invite page, the dance had a “glow in the dark” theme and a casual dress code.

The intention of having an “informal” was to create an accessible and affordable dance for Pali students. Less expensive than the traditional formal dance and less strict in dress code, Leadership members said that their main goal was to plan a fun event for as many people as possible.

“Typical winter formals involve worrying about finding a date and finding the best dress and shoes,” said junior Taylor Torgerson, the Commissioner of Student Involvement. “We really just wanted to put those worries aside and host a fun party.”

Torgerson also said that leadership has not determined the date for which they are rescheduling the informal, but that they have come up with several ideas.
