In Michael Harney’s new play “The Awful Grace of God,” Tim DeZarn and Janine Vanable play a married couple who are trying to cope with the death of their son. It’s a role that, sadly, they know too well.

Ten years ago, DeZarn and Vanable’s son Travis died in an automobile accident shortly after he graduated from Palisades Charter High School. In honor of Travis, the couple established an award that annually is given to the most inspirational lacrosse player at Pali High.

The play opened earlier this month at the Other Space @ Actor’s Company in West Hollywood, and it is scheduled to run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through late May.
