First Football Games of the Season
The Pali High Dolphins won the annual Charter Bowl on Friday, Sept. 9, defeating the Granada Hills Highlanders, 56-17. By halftime, Pali had a 42-10 lead and kept on rolling through the Highlanders’ defense well into the second half. Pali running back Innocent Okoh rushed for three touchdowns in the first half alone.
In the Junior Varsity game, Granada Hills defeated Pali, 34-8.
Pali’s football teams are scheduled to play their next games on Sept. 23, at Huntington Park.
On Thursday, Aug. 25, Pali’s JV football team suffered a 28-0 loss to Sierra Canyon. While some players, including sophomore cornerback Jake Nadley, played well on defense, it wasn’t enough for Pali to gain its first victory of the season.
The following day, Pali’s Varsity football team also lost to the talented Sierra Canyon team, 36-0, at Stadium by the Sea. From the beginning, it was apparent that Sierra Canyon had the upperhand, yet the Dolphins still persevered, fighting for every tackle. Even though the resulting score wasn’t in their favor, the Palisades crowd was still jumping out of their seats for every successful play.
