“A Lie of the Mind” comes to a close
Sam Shepard’s “A Lie of the Mind” graced the Mercer Hall stage for the last time on Saturday, Nov. 5, performed five times prior to its closing performance.
The thematic elements of “A Lie of the Mind” stand in sharp contrast to its preceding production, “Spamalot.” Centered around Beth, portrayed by senior Mika Aularoloe, her husband Jake, portrayed by senior Sam Korobkin, and their respective families, the production chronicles the aftermath of an extreme episode of spousal abuse. Executed with both humor and sensitivity, “A Lie of the Mind” follows Jake’s search for life after his battery of Beth and the difficulties Beth and her family face after her resulting brain damage.
“Though it was a deep play full of emotions, we had a lot of fun working together and getting closer as a cast and crew,” sophomore Jenna Ross, of the hair and makeup crew, said. “It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait until the spring musical.”
The spring play has not been announced yet, though Ms. Nancy Fracchiolla is currently in the process of securing the rights for it.
