My name is Tom Leivas. I’m a freshman and a member of Pali’s football team. On the day that the fires started, I was shocked, but when I heard that the school and the football facilities had been damaged, I was devastated.
Even though I wasn’t personally affected by the fires, I knew I wanted to help in some way. The day after the fires started, I decided to start a GoFundMe to help raise funds to rebuild the football facilities.
I expected to raise only around $500, however, as of today I have $3,000 from the GoFundMe to be donated to the Pali QuarterBack Club, the football program’s fundraising group. Not only had the facilities been lost, but I felt like I had lost a part of me. That is why I wanted to do something to help, even through something as simple as organizing a fundraiser and managing an Instagram page.
